I have been building and managing websites for roughly 15 years where during that time I have built & managed complex Websites within Telstra. Since leaving Telstra I have decided to follow my hobby & freelance my work.

Website building to me is both work and fun, I have extensive Graphic Design experience and a large personal resource pool to work with thus am able to eliminate the need to outsource work which in turn translates to a cheaper, smoother, faster & a more professional website for you.

First thing you need to be aware of when shopping around is that there’s a lot of cowboys out there looking to exploit you, some examples:

• looking to lock you into a hosting plan where you must stay with them to keep your website active
• When you request a domain they could purchase it themselves and rent it out to you
• They could be offering you extended bells and whistles your website doesn’t need
• They could be looking to charge you ridiculous maintenance costs
• The list goes on

Trust is key, I aim to educate and make you feel comfortable in dealing with me, thus work in the following manner:

• I point you to a list of trusted hosting / domain providers in which you can research & then purchase the plans & have ownership over them
• I build your website in the popular wordpress platform and will provide you training on how to update & manage it yourself, I’m always here to help but if I was to physically not be able carry on with my work due to say an illness then any other designer could carry on from my work
• I will install a firewall on your website & will create a backup to keep on my cloud server and will provide you links to download them

With the above three processes in place you have ownership over your account & files whilst being safe guarded moving forwarded.

There are 3 core things you need:

• A website URL plan (websitename.com) – (roughly $15 a year)
• Website Hosting, this is where your website files will need to be placed to be accessible – (roughly $80 a year)
• A Web Designer like myself to build your website

Regarding the first two these can easily be purchased within a day, there’s many hosting companies in Australia that offer this service, if you are unsure of how to get these or which plan is right for you get in touch with me and I’ll point you in the right direction.

The list will be a very long if I was to include them all but here is a brief list, research wordpress if you’ll like to understand its full potential:

• Admin controls (add, edit & remove page)
• Media library
• Contact form
• Security plugins
• Backup plugin
• Automatic updates
• E-Commerce Store
• Payment gateways
• And hundreds of thousands of plugins

The wordpress platform is very flexible and features can be added on the fly post site completion allowing you to easily be able to expand on your website.

Prices vary depending on requirements but my most common website design package will be $800 +.gst ($400 +.gst deposit & $400 +.gst on completion) this will include 4 pages.

A four Page website could include a home page, services page, gallery & contact form. I am flexible in this regard so feel free to get in touch with your requirements and I’ll confirm a final quote.

• You’ll need to provide me with your hosting & domain details, if you don’t have them, I can walk you through getting them
• I’ll install wordpress on your server
• We will have a discussion regarding the layout, if you scroll down you’ll see just a few of the starting point layouts, once a starting point layout is agreed on I will then begin to modify it to suit your needs, everything in the layout can be changed (images, text, colours, font types, animations & more), I can mix and match elements from different layouts and can create my own layouts. Layouts are a great starting point to give you a visual and then I can customize it to be unique for you.
